From February 9th 2018 to February 10th 2018 the ADAC Forum Sport took place in Landshut, Bavaria. It was all about the motor sports that the ADAC supports. Our team was invited to represent the SimRacing section.
Ludwig Gemmer was already on friday in attendance and could therefore take some impressions of the ADAC Forum Sport. During a cozy dinner, the speakers of the ADAC and Ludwig Gemmer from RacingCommunity.de communicated well and shared ideas. After dinner a few rounds were turned on the virtual Nürburgring to give the speakers a little insight into today's racing simulations.
On Saturday, February 10th, Ludwig Gemmer received support from Christopher Ennsgraber, who also provided his SimRig. At 1:30 pm, the presentation with Marc Hennerici about the subject SimRacing began. Would such a thing be worthwhile for clubs of the ADAC to run their own championships?
Marc Hennerici, who also participated as a speaker, showed the participants how the Simracing Expo 2017 was built. Since Hennerici had already spent some time in the planning for club championships, he was also able to present a structuring that was very interesting for everyone. Therefor about 10-12 simulators are provided with a homogeneous simulation.
RacingCommunity.de represented by Gemmer and Ennsgraber then presented the topic from the driver's perspective: How does SimRacing work, what is behind it, and what are the requirements and fundamentals for this?
All seminar participants were able to try the simulators on this day and gain experience. It was tested with and without VR glasses to bring the participants closer to the differences now possible or how close SimRacing gets to real racing.
The good feedback and the numerous questions of the interested participants were answered until late in the evening. After everything was dismantled and loaded, Gemmer and Ennsgraber returned home to join the RacingCommunity.de team at Bathurst's 12h race and to keep their fingers crossed.
A big thanks to the ADAC from our whole team for inviting us, it was a pleasure for us!
